Philips expands HUE series

Philips Lighting announced the expansion of the Hue series of wireless LED lights at the Frankfurt show. The new dimmable Hue Lux LED bulbs will provide lower costs, compared to previously available color-adjustable Hue products from Philips. In addition, the company will provide a simplified desktop control unit called Hue Tap, which is expected to be launched this fall.

Previous Hue products from Philips were complaining that the price was too high, a single Hue bulb was priced at $60, a starter kit (providing a ZigBee bridge and three lights) was $200, and the Hue Lux LED was priced at $40. A kit (bridge and two lights) sells for only $100, and has been expanding its product and updating control applications since Philips launched the Hue series.

Philips Lighting Senior Director Filip Jan Depauw said: “The Hue Lux LED lights provide wireless functional lighting for home networking, perfect control of the user's home lighting, reconfigurable dimming through the application's array control, and daily The event is even better, and each control unit can run up to 50 lamps, so the lighting experience is fully scalable: any Hue-compatible product can be added to every room in the house."

Hue Tap sells for 60 dollars, through ZigBee wireless network can arouse and transfer the order to the product in the wireless module of the switch, Philips did not reveal the source of the energy gathering technology clearly, the touch switch is made of EnOcean Company's system. The company previously demonstrated the energy harvesting capabilities of the lower frequency wireless bands. At the Frankfurt show, the company demonstrated a switch for working in the 2.4-GHz band of ZigBee. Hue Tap is likely to rely on smart phones or computers for remote control of lights and switches.
