Self-aware network camera reference platform

Qualcomm introduces the Qualcomm® OpteronTM 618 networked camera reference design and development platform. The new camera platform combines Qualcomm's leading processing, connectivity, imaging and analysis technologies to support a more powerful, smarter and more professional security camera. The Snapdragon 618 platform includes a set of reference designs and a networked camera software development kit (SDK) that supports 4K HEVC video, full connectivity and video analytics heterogeneous computing.

An autonomous camera

Qualcomm Xiaolong 618 networked camera platform integrates powerful 64-bit six-core CPU, next-generation GPU, embedded DSP and advanced video analysis capabilities to promote the development of smart cameras to “autonomous camera”; not only can transmit 4K HEVC, but also Camera image analysis, such as target detection, face detection and recognition, multi-target tracking, and Qualcomm® ZerothTM target classification. With intelligent camera recognition, customers can no longer be limited to high-cost, server-based cloud video analytics, instead using more reliable, camera-based analytics. The new Qualcomm camera platform is designed to help customers using cloud security services reduce network bandwidth requirements and cloud storage costs, and when specific events occur, they only need to transmit relevant data.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 618 Network Camera Platform is a complete reference design for 4K HEVC networked cameras, supporting incredible computing performance and powerful connectivity. By integrating the 64-bit Opteron 618 processor, it supports:

· 64-bit six-core CPU with two 1.8GHz ARM® CortexTM-A72 cores and four 1.2GHz Cortex-A53 cores

· Integrated support for global mode X8 LTE with upstream/downlink support for advanced carrier aggregation up to 2x20 MHz

· Supports LTE Cat. 7, up to 300 Mbps download peak rate and 100 Mbps upload peak rate

· Complete and fast connectivity technologies including 802.11/a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi®, GPS, Ethernet and Bluetooth® Smart 4.1

· Next-generation Qualcomm® AdrenoTM GPUs and Qualcomm® HexagonTM DSPs, as well as 64-bit six-core CPUs, bring a complete heterogeneous computing platform to autonomous cameras, supporting advanced analysis and imaging capabilities

Dual Image Signal Processor (ISP) supporting up to 21 megapixel images and 4K video; dedicated h.264 and HEVC encoding hardware for up to 50% bandwidth compression

New modem solution

The new LTE modems MDM9207-1 and MDM9206 are designed to provide reliable, optimized cellular connectivity for an increasing number of terminals and systems within the Internet of Things (IoT).

The MDM9207-1 is designed for IoT applications such as smart meters, security, asset tracking, wearables, point of sale, and industrial automation, many of which require extremely reliable and energy-efficient cloud service connectivity. It offers LTE Cat 1 connectivity with power and throughput optimization and other customizable features.
