Analysis of young people's myopia through artificial intelligence

In the past, the amount of research data on juvenile myopia was small and could not fully reflect its development law, so it could not be effectively predicted and early accurate intervention. Recently, the relevant team of Sun Yat-Sen University used the big data of medical optometry to create an artificial intelligence prediction model for myopia, which can accurately predict the development of juvenile myopia, and effectively intervene and prevent juvenile myopia.

The team of Liu Yizhi from the Zhongshan Ophthalmology Center of Sun Yat-sen University, in conjunction with many medical institutions across the country, used the big data of myopia medical optometry of more than ten million times to discover the regularity of the occurrence, progress and stability of myopia in adolescents.

On this basis, the study uses the random forest algorithm for machine learning and establishes an artificial intelligence prediction system, which can make individual predictions of the progression trend of myopia. The accuracy rate is 90% within 3 years and more than 80% within 10 years. It can also effectively predict high myopia 8 years in advance, providing a scientific basis for precise intervention of myopia.

In order to transform the research results into applications, the research team developed an artificial intelligence cloud platform to provide efficient myopia prediction services. By accessing the intelligent platform and entering the age and degree of the two examinations before and after (at least one year apart), the changes in the degree of myopia and the risk of high myopia within 10 years can be predicted.
