Recently, China's Wuhan Optics Valley - analog, mixed-signal device supplier core view technology launched high-voltage high-brightness linear LED driver chip AT8800. The AT8800 current regulator operates from a 6.5V to 40V input voltage range and provides up to 350mA total current to drive one or more columns of high brightness LEDs. Use an external current-sense resistor in series with the LED to regulate the output current of the AT8800. The enable input enables a wide range of pulse brightness control. Waveform shaping circuits reduce EMI. Differential current sense input improves noise rejection. The AT8800 is ideal for applications requiring high voltage inputs and is capable of withstanding automotive load dumps of up to 40V. On-board trim components greatly reduce the number of external components and provide ±3.5% output current accuracy. The device also features a 5V regulated output as well as short-circuit protection and thermal protection. With an external transistor, the AT8800 expands to drive LED currents up to several amps.
