"The goal of Tsinghua Tongfang is that in 2011, the production scale of LED chips reached the first place in China." Lu Zhicheng, president of Tongfang Co., Ltd. said that Tsinghua Tongfang will strive to become the largest and top three chip supplier in the country in the next three years.

Seeking breakthroughs in core links

China's LED lighting industry is in a blowout period, and LED lighting industry is one of the pillars of developing strategic emerging industries in many places (such as Guangdong, Jiangsu, Hubei, etc.). Wang Lianghai, vice president of Tongfang Co., told reporters that Tongfang shares rely on the relevant technical strength of Tsinghua University's LED industry. At the same time, the well-known LED research institutes outside the United Nations have mastered the high-level development, research and introduction through the digestion and absorption of international advanced technologies. The core key technologies of brightness blue-green LED epitaxial wafer growth and chip preparation engineering quickly have the technical strength to be in line with international standards.

It is understood that after the completion of the Tsinghua Tongfang investment of nearly 3 billion yuan in the Nantong LED project, it will form an annual output of 1.92 million high-brightness blue-green LED epitaxial wafers, 2 million LED backlight modules, and 2 million LED LCD TVs. 1 million LCD TVs and 500,000 Blu-ray DVDs, 16 million LED lamps and 9.6 million sets of wire and power board processing capacity.

"With the completion of Tsinghua Tongfang Nantong LED semiconductor base, it will change China's weak position in the field of high-brightness, high-power LED epitaxial wafers and chip production, which is conducive to China's independent development of the LED industry, while driving raw materials, midstream LE D devices and Packaging, and the development of downstream LED applications." Layout LED industry chain

China is almost at the same starting line with the developed countries in the LED industry, which also gives Chinese companies the opportunity to participate in global competition. According to Wang Lianghai, at present, Tsinghua Tongfang has formed LED epitaxial wafer, chip manufacturing and packaging, production and application of terminal products, complete industrial chain and large-scale production of urban landscape lighting, and has patents for LED epitaxy and chip manufacturing nearly 30. item.

Due to many patent problems in the technical aspects of epitaxial wafers, chips, packages, etc., multinational giants such as Sem iLED sCorporation in the United States and Lem nis in the Netherlands are building huge patent pools, which threatens the long-term development of China's LED industry. In terms of patents, Tsinghua Tongfang and the Dutch Lem nis company cooperated to solve the patent problems in the European and American markets through cross-licensing. This also paved the way for Tsinghua Tongfang to go overseas.

Lu Zhicheng emphasized that with the construction of Nantong LED industry base, the layout of Tsinghua Tongfang LED industry has been basically completed.
