According to Iwasaki Electric and Teijin, the E26-type LED lighting products, which are made of resin, are the first ones in the world. It is envisaged that self-ballasted mercury lamps used in place of billboards, job sites, etc., are scheduled to be launched in 2010.
Raheama is a carbon material that is more thermally conductive than metal. The highly thermally conductive resin used in the housing has almost the same heat dissipation as aluminum. The weight is the same as the weight of the self-ballasted mercury lamp and auxiliary equipment, which is approximately 300g. The advantages of LED lighting are high luminous efficiency and long life. The disadvantage is that in order to release the heat from the LED module, the aluminum alloy is mostly used in the housing.
