Running at the forefront of the locomotive, in the past ten years in the blue-green field, the speed of the subsequent expansion is slow, but most of the time is in a state of tepid, Shanghai Blu-ray waits for a new breakthrough.

On July 16, 2007, Rainbow Group invested RMB 130 million in Shanghai Blu-ray, accounting for 51% of Blu-ray, and became the controlling shareholder of Blu-ray.

Shanghai Blu-ray is a strong part of Rainbow Group's entry into the field of optoelectronics. "LED is the most promising industry in the world and is also planned to be one of the Group's three core businesses." Zhang Shaowen, deputy general manager of Rainbow Group, told the media.

After nearly four years, referring to the investment of Rainbow Group, the deputy general manager of Blu-ray’s veteran, Wang Yongcheng, claimed that “this is one of the important nodes in the development of Blu-ray, and the expansion plan has been gradually carried out since then”.

Wang Yongcheng pointed out that with the capital injection of the Central Enterprise Rainbow Group, Blu-ray's operation management is more standardized, and Rainbow Group's production management and technology are all from Japan, and have rich experience in production site management, quality control, and cost reduction. . In addition, Rainbow Group is vertically positioning the industrial chain in the fields of liquid crystal glass substrates and backlight modules, and has cooperated with domestic TV manufacturers for many years, which gives Blu-ray companies the opportunity to cut into the backlight module market.

Steady and steady development
According to Gaogong LED verification data, Rainbow Group was once the largest color cathode tube enterprise in China and the third largest in the world. It was in a loss situation due to the revolution of color TV flat panel, and had to find a new way out. In the field of optoelectronics, Rainbow Group also entered LED chip production by injecting Shanghai Blu-ray technology. At the same time, it also invested heavily in the OLED industry.

Before the Rainbow Group's capital injection, Blu-ray had only five production lines in 2007, and 13 MOCVDs were officially put into production at the end of 2009, and increased to 20 in 2010. The speed of expansion is still as steady as ever.

Steady and steady, this is the advantage of Blu-ray, and to some extent it is also a disadvantage.

Therefore, blue epitaxial wafers and chips are at the core of the semiconductor lighting industry. Compared with the manufacture of red and yellow epitaxial wafers and chips, the manufacturing technology of blue-green optical epitaxial wafers and chips is much more difficult and costly. Compared with chip process technology, the manufacturing technology of epitaxial wafers is more difficult. Because of this, Blu-ray and many companies in Taiwan and around the world have always insisted on working in the field of blue-green optical epitaxial wafers and chips. Due to the large number of entrants, the competition is always fierce. It is precisely because the future application prospect of red and yellow light is much smaller than that of blue light, and there are fewer enterers, but the enterprises that have entered have been profitable for many years.

Perhaps this explains why Blu-ray has always adhered to the blue-green field.

Ten years of tempering, although the blue-green market did not bring too much surprise to Blu-ray. However, Wang Yongcheng has no lack of confidence in the blue-green field. "In many companies, we have been insisting on doing blue-green light, and we have been persisting until now, although it has been a bit difficult. We believe that the foundation is solid enough and it is time to accumulate." .

In 2010, Shanghai Blu-ray achieved sales revenue of 269 million yuan and realized a total profit of 49 million yuan. This is the result of years of persistence and accumulation. "More importantly, the construction of the Hefei production base will lay the foundation for the leap-forward development of Blu-ray."

Financing to be listed
On June 18, 2010, the Hefei project of Blu-ray was officially launched, which was called “an important step in the development of Blu-ray.”
It is reported that the Hefei project has a total investment of about 10 billion yuan. It will build 200 MOCVD (45+) and supporting chip production lines in two phases in three years. The first phase of the investment was 2.025 billion yuan, and 50 production lines were put into operation. It is planned to be put into operation in August this year.

Domestically, they have increased their investment in LED epitaxial chips. Wang Yongcheng said, "The development prospects of the industry are broad, but there are indeed blind investment and expansion. For enterprises that have accumulated years of experience and are already the first echelon of the industry, there is no reason not to expand production, but the expansion of Blu-ray will not be blind. Instead, it will be implemented step by step, take a step, stabilize it, and adjust it according to the actual situation of the market."

After ten years of grinding a sword, focusing on the field of blue and green light, it has accumulated a solid technical foundation. Wang Yongcheng admitted to the reporter that “the sales in 2009 was 130 million yuan; the sales in 2010 was 269 million yuan, and the profit was nearly 50 million yuan; in 2011, it is expected to reach 370 million to 400 million yuan, which does not include the Hefei project. Possible gains."

Perhaps it is precisely because of the support of these favorable data, "Shanghai Blu-ray intends to apply for listing this year, plans to be listed in early 2012," Wang Yongcheng said. Excluding the Hefei project, Shanghai Blu-ray has already reached 450 million yuan in 2010.
