Sina Technology News, October 31 – In the afternoon, at the 2017 iQiyi Yue Enjoyment Meeting, iQiyi unveiled its content strategy for 2018, covering dramas, popular entertainment, and ecological content across multiple fields. The company announced over 200 new projects, signaling a strong push into diversified content creation. During a post-meeting interview, Wang Xiaohui, iQiyi’s Chief Content Officer, revealed that the platform's investment in 2018 will surpass 10 billion yuan, reflecting its commitment to high-quality programming. Among the most anticipated projects is “The Hot Blood Dance Company,” a new variety show created by the “China Hip-Hop” team. The program, produced by iQiyi and co-produced by Weibo, features a stellar lineup of directors, including Chen Wei as the director, Liu Zhou as music director, Che Che as general director, and Tang Hao as visual director. Notable guests include Lu Wei and Chen Weijun, with the show set to launch in March 2018. Additionally, the second season of “China Hip-Hop” is scheduled for release in July 2018. Wang Xiaohui noted that the budget for “The Hot Blood Dance Company” is expected to be comparable to that of the first season of “China Hip-Hop,” which reportedly cost around 250 million yuan. This level of investment highlights iQiyi’s confidence in its creative teams and production capabilities. In addition to these shows, iQiyi also announced plans for “Robotic Hegemony,” a new variety series that blends robotics, mechanics, and celebrity talent. The show is set to debut in September 2018, with Ma Dong, Cai Kangyong, and Gao Xiaosong among the confirmed hosts. The company also emphasized its use of AI technology to enhance content creation and user engagement. Gong Yi, founder and CEO of iQiyi, highlighted how AI algorithms are used in various stages of production, from scriptwriting and casting to traffic forecasting and recommendation systems. According to internal data, iQiyi’s deep learning models have achieved an accuracy rate of 83% in predicting box office performance for movies and 88% for TV dramas. Marketing efforts have also seen significant growth, with iQiyi joining Baidu’s “One Hundred Love Plan.” This collaboration integrates Baidu’s AI technology, user data, and marketing resources with iQiyi’s premium content offerings. Looking ahead, iQiyi plans to launch over 200 top-tier programs in 2018, spanning dramas, variety shows, and entertainment content. Titles such as “River God 2,” “Old Nine Gates 2,” and “Tomb Notes 2” are among the highly anticipated dramas. Meanwhile, variety shows like “Idol Trainee” and “Spirit 6” will continue to attract audiences. Chen Wei, iQiyi’s Senior Vice President, explained that the company has established several studios, each with multiple production teams. He emphasized that while individual teams can produce quality content, larger-scale productions often require collaboration between two or three studios. With a focus on innovation, creativity, and technological advancement, iQiyi is setting the stage for a dynamic 2018 filled with exciting new content.
