# Original innovator #REC.709 color gamut blessing! ViewSonic ViewSonic PX725HD Projector Unpacking Experience

This year, I was assigned to work at a branch office. Initially, I planned to apply to the Director General for permission to buy a TV room for the dormitory. However, he didn’t approve it, and I realized that being smart wasn’t the way to go. So instead, I applied for a projector, and to my surprise, it was approved. It turned out to be a life-changing decision. After researching for a while, I found a projector that supports 100% REC.709 color accuracy, which is quite rare. It cost around 4,000 yuan, and during Double 11, I made the purchase without hesitation. I must say that JD.com is incredibly fast — I received the package within one day. The packaging was very secure, with multiple layers of bubble wrap, making me feel confident about the product’s condition upon arrival. The box itself is black and matches the design of the projector. Inside, there's a layer of foam that holds the machine in place, ensuring it doesn't move during transport. When I opened the box, there was an outer bag protecting the device. After removing all the packaging, I finally saw the real unit. The ViewSonic PX725HD has a recessed lens design, with a 240W lamp. In economy mode, the lamp can last up to 6,500 hours, while in normal mode, it lasts around 3,500 hours. Since the lens doesn’t have a protective cover, it’s best to keep it in the bag when not in use to avoid dust accumulation. The body features physical buttons that make it easy to operate, including functions like switching on/off, trapezoidal correction, and more. This model supports vertical trapezoidal correction, and the whole unit weighs just 2.9kg, making it very portable. I recommend using it for watching or presentations, as I noticed that trapezoidal correction might slightly affect image quality. On the side, there are two adjustment rings. The inner one has a protruding gusset plate that allows you to adjust the focal length by rotating the small circle. The outer ring adjusts the lens distance. Manual adjustments are needed each time depending on where you place the projector. The cooling vents work well, and the fan is clearly visible. The interface is comprehensive, featuring two HDMI 1.4 ports, one VGA, one RS-232, audio input, and a mini USB Type-B port, which should meet most of your needs. At the bottom of the unit, there’s a label with basic information and some small heat vents. Included in the package were the user manual, warranty card, and instructions for the REC.709 standard. When I first turned it on, the color transition looked natural. In default mode, the projector automatically switches to REC.709 when connected via HDMI. The boot-up speed is quick, taking only 3 seconds to start and 0 seconds to shut down. With a resolution of 1920x1080 (1080p) and 2,000 lumens, it performs well even during the day. Recently, I used it for a movie night, and the picture quality was quite good. I also did some comparisons between the computer screen and the projected image. The projector displayed colors more vividly and clearly. In dark scenes, the projection remained bright and clear. When projecting food images, the gloss and shine were more realistic. In summary, although I haven’t used it for long, the most noticeable feature is the color performance. With the six-speed RGBRGB color wheel and special coatings that filter RGB spectral segments, the colors are richer, with better hue and saturation, resulting in smoother and more natural images. However, I noticed something strange — there was no signal cable included. I contacted the seller, and they said it was intentional to save costs. Fortunately, I had an HDMI cable in the dorm, so I didn’t need to buy one. Overall, this projector offers great value for its price, especially considering it supports the REC.709 color gamut.

In terms of display effect, the advantages of OLED screens are too attractive compared to LCD screens. The OLED screen has the function of individually controlling the pixels. In daily use, not every scene needs to light up all the pixels of the screen. Therefore, it can display a more pure black effect, and can also achieve 1000000:1 in terms of contrast ratio, so that the bright places are bright enough, and the dark places are very dark, bringing a more realistic display effect.

In addition, compared with LCD screens, OLED screens have removed components such as backlights and polarizers. In terms of sliding and touch, OLED screens can provide a touch response speed of 0.2ms, and dynamic content such as content sliding and games. In the scene, the OLED screen can provide a clearer look and feel.

It is precisely because of this that more and more notebook manufacturers are beginning to deploy and promote OLED screens on their own products to further improve the display effect of their own products. Among the notebook computer manufacturers, ASUS is the most active. The slogan of #ASUSscreen# has been played before, and with the help of high-quality OLED screens, it brings a more amazing display effect than LCD. The recently launched new product, the ASUS Unparalleled series, has brought the 120Hz high-brush OLED screen to the 5K price range, reducing the dimension of products at the same price.
