This certification marks a significant milestone, as the IMU is now approved to support the next generation of devices running these immersive virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies.
Google Daydream is a high-performance VR platform designed to deliver an engaging and immersive experience through smartphones equipped with compatible headsets and controllers. STMicroelectronics’ LSM6DSM is specifically optimized for use in Daydream, Tango, and other VR applications. The sensor integrates a three-axis gyroscope and a three-axis accelerometer, offering energy-efficient "always-on" motion sensing to maximize battery life. Advanced power management techniques, such as improved gyroscope design, efficient data batching, and ultra-low-power manufacturing, ensure the device delivers high performance without draining the device’s power quickly.
