The following are the detailed operating procedures for the ultra-clean workbench:

1. Preparation Before Using the Ultra-Clean Workbench

(1) Turn on the fan of the ultra-clean workbench to ensure the internal environment is clean. Switch on the work light to achieve the required illumination level.

(2) Verify that all sterilized materials and experimental items are fully prepared in the ultra-clean station. If a cage box needs to be replaced, check the availability of the sterilized cage and use a stainless steel trolley to move it to the side of the clean bench.

(3) Check the spray function of the sprayer and confirm that the cleaning solution used for wiping both the inside and outside of the clean bench is ready.

(4) Activate the room’s exhaust system to eliminate any odorous gases that may escape when the cage is opened.

(5) Inspect the various indicator lights on the IVC unit and visually check the animals in each cage to assess the IVC operation status.

(6) Record key environmental parameters such as temperature, relative humidity, daily temperature fluctuations, and the pressure difference between the inside and outside of the cage, which can affect the reproduction, growth, and development of the experimental animals.

2. Operation Procedures and Standards for the Ultra-Clean Workbench

(1) Personnel should wear disposable masks, caps, and medical-grade latex gloves before entering the workbench area.

(2) Use both hands to gently lift the outer edge of the IVC cage and slide it out along the cage, placing it on the stainless steel trolley next to the ultra-clean workbench.

(3) Spray the exterior of the gloves and the outer surface of the IVC cage with the disinfectant solution. This helps sterilize the surface and prevent dust from being carried into the clean bench by laminar airflow. Alternatively, you can immerse your gloved hands in a disinfectant container, take a cloth, wring it out, and wipe the outer surface of the cage to remove excess liquid.

(4) Open the ultra-clean workbench and carefully move the cage into the designated area.

(5) Adjust the sliding door of the ultra-clean workbench to an appropriate height. Unfasten the tab securing the IVC cage lid and open it. Place the lid aside for later use.
